Description
Type design is experiencing a vibrant moment, and despite the lack of specific training, young graphic designers are increasingly passionate about it. For this reason, Pittogramma is organizing an immersive two-day workshop at the Circolo del Design in Turin, featuring the Type Directors from the historic international foundry Monotype and the founder of Glyphs, the reference software for font design.
Join us to discover the rules and secrets of type design, and challenge yourself by creating your first font. If you already have a typeface or a logo in progress, bring it along and refine it with insights from the top experts in the field!
At the end of the first day, there will be Type Design Talks, an open discussion for all members of the Circolo del Design, moderated by F. Mario Rizzotti (Pittogramma), with participants including Anna Damoli (Monotype), Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer (Glyphs), and Giuseppe Salerno (Resistenza Type). We will discuss topics such as the history of type design in Turin, what it means to be a type designer today, managing a type foundry, the dynamics of font licensing, and how to present a typeface to a client.
